About Kristin

Hi, I’m Kristin, and I’m glad you’re here. I’m writing this in the first-person because SportsRD is my baby. I started it to change lives. Perhaps I can change yours.

SportsRD (Sports Registered Dietitian) encompasses my heart and soul, my first-class, amazing education, my decades-long health and fitness journey, and my years of experience and expertise. WYSIWYG.

Having been a competitive soccer player on a winning team for a California State title, track athlete, collegiate cyclist, distance runner, and rower in an era of “being small”, I know firsthand what it’s like to live with the demands of winning titles, trophies, and the unending pursuit of faster finishes and better results. I also chased unrealistic and unhealthy body image “ideals” that left me broken and injured.

Today, decades later, I know that the keys to unlocking potential are adequate fueling and a healthy relationship to food.

I’ve seen athletes and active people both young and old reach their own “next level”, achieve their goals, heal their bodies, and live healthy, vibrant lives through better nutrition.

This is freedom. Freedom equals confidence. Freedom equals achievement. Freedom means your dreams can become reality.

Dieting, restricting, and staying small are the opposite of freedom.

Nutrition is the key to unlocking your potential. Healthy, adequate fueling makes the possible probable.

Simple? Yes. Easy? I’m here to help.

I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) who is also board-certified in Sports Performance Dietetics, CSSD. I’m also a proud Mom, and a lifelong athlete.

I bring a unique blend of professional expertise and personal experience to my work with athletes and active individuals of all ages. As a busy, working Mom, I truly understand the challenges and demands of juggling it all.

Today, I draw on 18 years of professional nutrition experience, combined with personal insights from my own health journey–including overcoming an eating disorder, navigating the crazy ups and downs of diet culture, and being a competitive athlete.

I use evidence-informed, science-backed, practical strategies tailored to you and your unique goals and circumstances. There is no one-size-fits-all for your life, to achieve your goals, and to improve your health.

I dispel the myths, cut through the nutrition nonsense (social media is full of misinformation), and help you overcome your limiting beliefs about food, nutrition, and fueling (FYI, we all have them).

My mission is to support and empower you on your journey, wherever you are. I help athletes and active people of all ages by giving you the tools you need to discover your own strengths and potential.

I have a compassionate, practical, non-diet approach. I will be your powerful ally and accountability coach. Together, we can get you to the next level. No diets, no gimmicks. Just freedom.

If you’re ready to get started, let’s begin this journey together!

Career Path

My career path has been as diverse as my athletic pursuits. Before becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (MS, RDN), I worked in the Cayman Islands at one of the world’s largest law firms. Yes, it was very interesting, and no, money laundering with “off-shore bank accounts” in the Cayman Islands is not a thing…any more!

Prior to flying a desk, I lived in the Napa Valley and worked in the wine industry at some of the region’s most prestigious wineries. I jokingly describe myself as a recovering food snob.

A Boulder county resident since 2008, I have been deeply involved in diversity, equity, and inclusion work in my community. I believe we are better together, and our diversity is our strength. I continue to challenge my beliefs.

My journey as an athlete and outdoor enthusiast continues. I share an active lifestyle with my teenage son who seems to be following in my soccer footsteps (yay), but leaves me in the dust (powder) on the ski slopes. I skate-ski, cycle, run, and love our National Parks.

My recent accomplishments include a handful of multi-day high-altitude backpacking trips in Colorado and a hut-to-hut adventure in the Italian Dolomites. Highly recommend!

I am also very proud of my recent home gym addition where I embrace weekly strength training sessions (lifting heavy sh*t) for improved bone health, longevity, and a not-so-secret desire to stay badass.
